ANNOUNCEMENT
2016 Philippines Development Forum
(Update as of Sept. 29, 2016)

We have been advised by the Department of Finance, Chair of the Philippines Development Forum (PDF), that the 2016 PDF is planned for November 8-9 under the tentative theme of “Poverty Reduction through the Vigorous Implementation of the 10-Point Socioeconomic Agenda.” The planned venue is the SMX Convention Center in Davao City. In line with full country leadership of the PDF process and mechanism, the upcoming meeting will be organized and chaired by the Government.

The discussions at the upcoming PDF will be aligned to the administration’s 10-point agenda. The Forum will include parallel break-out sessions on thematic discussions around the 10-point agenda as follows:

Break-out Session Themes Clustered Points from the 10-Point Agenda
1: Macroeconomic and Fiscal Policies #1: Macroeconomic Policies
#2: Tax Reform Package
2: Infrastructure and Competitiveness #3: Competitiveness and Ease of Doing Business
#4: Infrastructure Spending
#8: Science, Technology and Arts
3: Rural Development #5: Rural Development
#6: Land Administration and Management
4: Human Capital Development #7: Human Capital Development

The current PDF working groups will be restructured and a new set of working groups will be established aligned with the thematic discussions per the 5 break-out sessions above. These new working groups would then carry the dialogue onward post-2016 PDF until the next PDF. Background materials (draft government presentations) for the break-out sessions at the PDF will be shared by the Department of Finance around mid-October.

Please wait for the official letter of invitation from the Department of Finance, which will provide confirmation of the event, the program and guidance for the on-line registration.
